NFL Week Eight Wrapup: Oakland Raiders at Tennessee Titans

13

In the topsy-turvy world of sports, seldom if ever does a game go according to what "should" happen.  Yesterday's Raiders-Titans game was an exception.  Unfortunately.

The Raiders, in-between shooting themselves in the foot via penalty after penalty, couldn't run the ball to save their lives against the top-notch Titans run defense.  Therefore, it was up to Daunte Culpepper to make things happen.  He didn't.  Then again, considering his only available call at the line of scrimmage was "hut-hut-hike-watch me run for my life" -- this happens when you get sacked five times -- how could he?  If nothing else, this should quell the growing chorus to run JaMarcus Russell out there.  What could he possibly learn when he'd never have time to set and throw a pass?

The Raiders had difficulty corralling the Titans running game, but completely stifled Vince Young who was playing although he really should have sat this game out do to a nagging injury.  Besides, with the way the Raiders were playing Richard Simmons could have played QB for Tennessee and they still would have come out victorious.

I'm thinking it's safe to say this is the fourth straight lost season for the Raider Nation.

The Raiders next game is this coming Sunday at home against Houston.
